Small Town – Big Flavours
Sitting on a footpath out the front of a restaurant rarely feels gourmet; here in Airlie Beach, however, things are a little different. Imagine sitting by the ocean with a plate of the freshest seafood, or by the road with Asian infusion flavours. The Whitsundays offer this perfect dining experience 7 days a week. Let’s explore where to find our TOP 5 RESTAURANTS.
Coming in at # 1 – Eastwoods
Brace yourself. This menu jumps off the page, and when served, it will immediately reward you with the WOW Factor. EASTWOODS focuses on the bold flavours of Southeast Asia with the intention of being shared. But sharing is the hard part!
Dive into dishes that highlight the sea’s treasures or celebrate the farmers’ input with local produce sourced from the Bowen Basin. Each bite connects you to land and sea.
An Eastwood’s dining experience is one of those rare occasions where you refuse to screw up your nose, and just try everything. Think you don’t like sashimi, incorrect, you’ll do somersaults over the local Kingfish Sashimi. Won’t eat Brussel Sprouts? Yes, you will! Vegan, Vegetarian, and Pescatarian are all catered for.
Winning GOLD at the Tourism Awards was no surprise – EASTWOODS – Our fav for ’26

Cozy Cafes and Local Flavours
If you’re looking for something more laid-back, Airlie Beach has cozy cafes that offer a unique blend of flavours. These spots are perfect for relaxing and enjoying a casual meal infused with local charm.
Garden Bar – Coral Sea Marina – #2
When you venture away from the main street, you’ll discover plenty of gems. The GARDEN BAR & BISTRO is worth the stroll along the Bicentennial Walkway. Situated at Coral Sea Marina South Village, this place sneaks up on you. Bistro may well be a name from a past style, but in 2026, this is more casual dining and a great bar than ‘bistro’.
Looking over the boats in the marina, catching a cool breeze, and dining here go hand-in-hand. In their own words, they have “crafted a menu that embodies the easy-going Whitsundays lifestyle – Fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour. Using locally sourced produce, they bring you a selection of dishes designed to satisfy every craving, from gourmet burgers to the freshest local seafood”.
We won’t mention the Baked Brie (whoops, we just did), so enjoy it guilt-free. And the Fish Tachos are a hit. The shared plates are huge and delicious. Garden Bar has made our top 5 list every year since they opened, and it’s a bonus having Cooper’s Vintage Ale on their beer list.
FNQ-Inspired Dishes
The Whitsundays are a treasure trove of flavours. Local cafes bring these tastes to life with dishes inspired by the region. From tropical fruits to fresh seafood, there’s something for everyone.
You’ll find dishes that make you feel like a local. Try a dish with a tropical twist or a classic favourite with a regional flavour. Mango makes many a menu when in season, and our local mangos are world-renowned.
Want to know a secret? Most people think FNQ is all about the scenery, but the food is just as spectacular.
Whitehaven Beach #3
O.K. – This is a bit random as this stunning location is not a restaurant. But it can be! Once a year, it hosts ‘White-on-White’, and this experience is not to be missed. We could bang on about it forever in our Blog, but head to the link and discover this local jewel for yourself.

Other than the White-on-White experience, as long as you promise to clean up, pack your own picnic basket, and head out to this stunning slice of Australia. Do a day trip, get dropped off by a seaplane or a helicopter. Charter a BAREBOAT – Whatever you do, spend some time on this stunning, silica beach, where even on the hottest of all days, the sand does not get hot under your feet. Mother Nature has been kind to the Whitsundays, and Whitehaven Beach is the star of the show.
La Tabella #4 and Fat Frog #5
We love breakfast, and the FAT FROG nails this every time. Catering to almost everybody, from gluten-free to vegetarian and vegan. Always bustling, always great service, always great breakfasts, and the location, beachside, is a ripper.
We can’t ever remember not savouring every bite, and the coffee is divine. Aussies love our coffee, and the Frog Team do it so well.
La Tabella brings a touch of Italy to the Whitsundays. Feeling a little more formal when you step inside, giving you more of a ‘city-vibe’, this fav never disappoints. Stay streetside if you wish for more of an ‘Airlie-vibe’.
At La Tabella, their menu is a “true labour of love, crafted with the finest local and imported ingredients and guided by the passion and expertise of their talented kitchen team. Every dish reflects the heart of Italian cuisine—simple, fresh, and full of flavour. While rooted in classic Italian traditions, experience the perfect blend of tradition and innovation on every plate”. Buon appetito!
